About

Biophysics explores the physical principles and mechanisms of biological processes occurring at different levels of the structural organization of the living, from molecular to cellular and population. These include: phenomena of mobility; energy transformation; features of kinetic regimes and mechanisms of their regulation; mechanisms of influence of physical factors; photobiological processes; creation and development of new physical methods for studying biological processes.

The topics of the reports of the VII Congress of Biophysicists of Russia cover a wide range of fundamental problems. Issues of medical biophysics will be considered, including those related to longevity - various aspects of oxidative stress, from its diagnosis, features of occurrence and course, connection with oncological diseases, to the mechanisms of occurrence and influence of various factors on it, such as: glutathione in various forms , NO, nitrosyl iron complexes, etc.

Reports are planned on new methods of diagnostics, analysis, prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases; modeling and analysis of blood flow and fibrin formation, cardiac and muscle contractions. Reports will be heard on the development of nanomaterials for the targeted delivery of drugs and genetic material. Close attention will be paid to new developments in equipment and methods: for medical visualization of the internal work of the body; to measure and model all aspects of the environment from the stratosphere to deep ocean vents; to study the diverse microbial communities inhabiting every ecological niche on our planet; to track pollutants in the atmosphere and develop ways to turn algae into biofuels. Reports are planned on modeling the work of the brain and nervous system, processing visual and auditory information; the role of epigenetic processes in the formation of long-term memory; biomechanics, the development of more advanced limb prostheses.

Modern achievements in bioenergetics will be considered: works on the mechanisms of energy conversion in living organisms, on the study of substrate, photo- and oxidative phosphorylation systems that supply the energy necessary for the life of organisms, work on the processes of generating membrane forms of energy, as well as their use for ATP synthesis , the accumulation of chemicals in cells and organelles, the mobility of bacteria, the generation of heat for thermoregulation, etc., as well as the study of ways of practical application of bioenergetics to reverse the aging program of the body.

The quality and duration of human life on Earth are inextricably linked with the state of the environment. Within the framework of the Congress, works will be presented on the study of the physicochemical mechanisms of adaptation and stability of organisms in extreme environmental conditions, the elucidation of the physicochemical mechanisms of the interaction of the organism with the environment at the level of macromolecules and macromolecular complexes, the structure and functioning of membrane structures, subcellular particles, as well as cellular ensembles, populations and their communities. In addition, issues related to the study of the impact of radiation and physical fields (electromagnetic, magnetic, gravitational, acoustic, etc.), physical factors (temperature, humidity, pressure, etc.) on biological objects will be considered.
